Bitbot
An 8-bit frequency shifter on PedalPCB's Roboto, their take on the Death By Audio Robot. Three knobs: volume, a control knob, and a four-way mode switch that picks normal, up, down or arpeggio. Whatever you play comes back out as a robot's idea of it.

What it does
The Death By Audio Robot is an 8-bit pitch shifter that makes no attempt to be transparent, and the Roboto is PedalPCB's board for that circuit. Your signal is chopped into 8 bits and shifted, so a clean chord comes back as something between a game console and a broken modem. Normal mode is the raw 8-bit voice with the Control knob nudging the pitch. Up and Down shift it an interval either way. Arpeggio hands the Control knob over to a rate and the pedal walks through the offsets by itself, which is where it stops being an effect and starts being an instrument. Winked silver box, clear knobs, the name in green. Built on PedalPCB's Roboto board, PCB069, with their drill layout, then wired, boxed and tested here.

- In the Normal, Up and Down modes it sets the pitch offset. In Arpeggio mode it sets the rate of the arpeggio instead.

- A four-position rotary: Normal, Up, Down and Arpeggio. Up and Down shift the note the way the names say; Arpeggio steps through offsets on its own at the rate the Control knob sets.
