I wanted a delay that would fall apart in the good way. The PT2399 chip is the guts of a hundred lo-fi delays, and PedalPCB's Cataclysm board lets it run all the way out - warm, gritty repeats that smear into grain and tip into runaway self-oscillation the second you push Repeats too far. Time, Mix, and Tone tune the mess. Skull-in-a-cereal-bowl tarot on a red box because the name came before the paint.

What it does

The Cereal Killer is a delay built around the PT2399 - the beloved lo-fi echo chip. Short settings give you tight slapback and rockabilly bounce; open up the time and the repeats get darker, grainier, and more characterful as the chip degrades the signal in the best way.

Crank the Repeats and it stops being polite: echoes pile on top of echoes until the whole thing tips into self-oscillation - swelling, screaming, runaway noise you can ride with the Time knob for sci-fi dive-bombs and cereal-bowl chaos. The Tone control tames or brightens the tails, and Mix blends it from a subtle doubling to wall-of-echo.

Controls

Time
Delay time - from tight slapback up to long, grainy, spacey repeats.
Repeats
Feedback - how many echoes, from a single slap up into infinite, self-oscillating runaway.
Mix
Blend of dry signal against the delayed repeats - subtle doubling to full wall-of-echo.
Tone
Rolls the top end off the repeats for dark, analog-ish tails, or opens them up brighter.
