Five boards in one box · Cicada, two APCs, Sentient Machine, Opto Duet · One of a kind

Machine 2

Synth Available · 1 of 1

One of my multi-board synths: five boards in one white 1590DD with pink knobs and pink LEDs. My Cicada NAND, two Atari Punk Consoles, an Opto Duet, and a Sentient Machine board from Parasit Studios that I have modified heavily. A line in runs through the Sentient Machine, and a CV in plays one of the APCs.

What it does

Five boards share this box. The Cicada NAND is a CD4093 running four square-wave oscillators. The two Atari Punk Consoles are Forrest Mims' stepped tone generator, two 555s where the first triggers the second and the pitch falls in steps. The Opto Duet is a pair of 555s wired through an LED and a photocell so they chase each other. The fifth is a Sentient Machine board from Parasit Studios, and I have changed it a lot.

The IN jack is a line in and it goes through the Sentient Machine, so it will chew on whatever you plug in. The CV jack goes to one of the APCs.

Twelve knobs, six toggles and four pink LEDs, and no tidy map of them, because on a box like this what a knob does depends on everything else.

One of a kind. When it is gone it is gone.

Demo

Demo video coming soon.

Controls

Twelve knobs
Across five boards. I am not going to pretend there is a tidy map: what any one knob does depends on what else is switched in and where the rest of them sit.
Four toggles with a pink LED each
Along the top of the face. Two more toggles sit lower down.
IN
A line in, and it runs through the Sentient Machine board, so you can feed it something of your own.
CV
Into one of the two APCs, so something else can play it.

Circuit: my own stripboard layouts, free on this site, plus a Parasit Studios Sentient Machine. Built, painted, and finished by Onion Madder as an original one-off - not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a clone of any commercial brand.
